Taxi Driver Test
Subjects Covered
These are just a selection of the subjects that need to be covered, understood and well practised before sitting the practical driving test.

  • Controls of the car
  • Moving off and stopping safely
  • Angled, uphill and downhill start
  • Turning left and right from major to minor roads
  • Emerging at T Junctions
  • Crossroads
  • Roundabouts
  • Pedestrian crossings
  • Meet, cross and overtake other traffic
  • Turn in the road
  • Reversing round a corner
  • Reverse parking
  • Emergency stop

The subjects will not necessarily be covered in the shown order as much will depend on the local area and your needs as a pupil. Also, the lesson plan could change during the session if, say, there is difficulty in a particular area, then the subject may be changed to concentrate on that.

Additionally, driving skills such as clutch control, steering, use of mirrors, road positioning, speed and anticipation will be taught and assessed.
